Frequently asked questions:

How do I know if I need to see a Paediatric Physio?

If you have a concern about your child, please feel free to leave your contact information and we'll give you a call to see if paediatric physiotherapy is right for you (free of charge!). Parents know their children best, so if you think something isn't right, it doesn't hurt to check!

Do we need a referral?

Some of our patients have referrals from their GP, paediatrician or from their surgical/medical team, but you don't need one to see us. Physiotherapists are classified as 'primary contacts' which means you don't need a referral to make an appointment.

How do we get started?

Please click here to visit our contact page. If you leave your name and number, we can call you back and have a chat about getting started.

Where are you located?

We visit children in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs and surrounds, and often travel to North Sydney, the Inner West and Cronulla. Please feel free to send a message and see if you're within our service area.

What type of funding is available?

We accept payment via card or bank transfer. You can choose to pay privately or using your private health insurance (HICAPS available).  We are Medicare registered for GP Management Plans, and for those with NDIS, we are able to see patients with self-managed and plan-managed funding.

What availability do you have?

We understand that each family is unique, and so we have appointment availability outside of standard business hours.

Do I need to do an initial assessment if I just want to do aquatic physiotherapy?

We always recommend completing an initial assessment 'on land' prior to starting an aquatic physiotherapy program in the pool so that we can assess your current level, understand your goals and plan your program.

I have another physiotherapist but they don't offer aquatics, can I visit you for just pool sessions?

This is a common question, and the answer is - of course! We can work with your land-physio to ensure that you get the best of both worlds.

What's the difference between you and the 'physio down the road'?

Paediatric physiotherapists are specifically trained in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of childhood disabilities, injuries and rehabilitation. If you're unsure whether a paediatric physiotherapist is right for you, please feel free to send us a message and we can have a chat!

What is the NDIS?

How can we get started with the NDIS?

The first step is to contact the NDIS and start the application process. You can also book an initial assessment with Sunny Kids Physiotherapy and we can organise a letter of recommendation for funding which will help support your application.

What management plans do you see?

We see children with self-managed and plan-managed funds.
